Shilajit , The Ayurvedic mineral goddess

Literal sanskrit translation….. MOUNTAIN TAR lol…. good right?

But in all seriousness Shilajit, is worth knowing about. So read on health nuts…. read on.

Shilajit is a sticky substance found primarily in the rocks of the Himalayas. It develops over centuries from the slow decomposition of plants.

Shilajit is commonly used in ayurvedic medicine. It’s an effective and safe supplement that can have a positive effect on your overall health and well-being with over 85 valuable minerals.

I’ll keep it short and sweet but some top benefits of Shilajit are…….

1. Alzheimers Disease, a progressive brain disorder that disrupts brain function, memory and the ability to think rationally.
Although there are drugs treatments that may improve some symptoms, research has shown that Shilajit may prevent and or slow the progression of the disease.
FULVIC ACID is the main antioxidant found in shilajit, which contributes largely to your cognitive health by preventing the build up of Tao Protein.

Although an important part of your nervous system, Tao Protein can create a buildup, which can trigger brain cell damage.

2. Testosterone levels, a primary male sex hormone, we all have it, and we all need it. Women naturally have lower levels but men over the age of 35 begin to lose their levels as well.

Signs of low testosterone include

  • a low sex drive
  • hair loss
  • loss of muscle mass
  • fatigue
  • increased body fat

A 90 day study on men receiving 250mg per day of Shilajit showed a significant increase in testosterone levels.

3. Anti Aging (COME AT ME!!!!)

Since shilajit is rich in fulvic acid, a strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, it may also protect against free radicals and cellular damage. As a result, regular use of shilajit  has been shown to contribute to longevity, a slower aging process, and overall better health.

4. Iron Deficiency, also commonly known as anemia, quiet common among women.

Symptoms include

  • fatigue
  • weakness
  • cold hands and feet
  • headache
  • irregular heartbeat

Shilajit has been shown, with 500 mg / day  to improve iron levels over time, even as quickly as 11 days.

So Shilajit is available in a few variations but the way I find easiest is the Shilajit honey straws.  (Shown in the image above)

I empty one full packet into my morning matcha, but you could add it to your steamed almond or coconut milk, or even into your morning tea or coffee.

You may also enjoy some of the other options found on NaturalShilajit

Sending you love and health
